How much will it cost me?

Do I need a guarantor?

You will only need a guarantor if you choose to pay by instalments. If you are a U.K. resident, you will need a U.K. resident as a guarantor. If you are an international student, your guarantor does not need to be a U.K. resident, but it does need to be someone who will be happy to be financially responsible for you should you find yourself in any financial difficulty.

Can I get an accessible room...

There are a limited number of accessible rooms on site, please contact us for further details.

Do I need a TV licence?

You may depending on what you are watching. Please visit the TV Licensing website for more information.

What about maintenance?

For any urgent maintenance issues we have staff available on site 24/7 to report to. We will endeavour to rectify any issues as quickly as possible.

What about pets?

Sorry, pets are not allowed.

What’s included?

With the exception of laundry costs, all bills are included.

Is WiFi available?

Yes, WiFi is available for all residents through our provider, ASK4. Residents can enjoy up to 100mbps and add six devices free on their ASK4 account.

How long is the contract?

We offer 51/44 week contracts running from September. We also offer flexible and shorter stays if you are doing placements, please ask us directly  but to ask about flexible and shorter stays if you are doing placements at hello@winchesterstudent.com or phone us Monday to Friday 9.00AM – 5.00PM on +44 (0) 7823 345 695.

How do I pay my rent?

We ask you to pay your rent direct into our bank account. Sorry but we do not take payment by card.

What about cleaning?

You will be responsible for cleaning your bedroom, kitchen and any shared area within your flat such as the corridor (don’t worry, we provide a vacuum cleaner!) but we clean everywhere else.

Can I smoke?

Smoking/vaping is not permitted anywhere in the building or in the grounds.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, It is one weeks worth of monthly cost - which will be deducted from the rent total.

Can we book as a group?

Absolutely, our smallest flats accommodate six people. If there are fewer of you in a group then you will need to share with others.

Can I bring my car?

The development is car free and so there is no student parking on site. You are not allowed to keep a car on the surrounding roads either. However Riverside Way is conveniently located for all local facilities and we have some great bike storage.

Can I have visitors to stay?

Occasional short term visitors are fine, however we ask that they keep any overnight stays to 2 nights in every 7.You are responsible for their behaviour and we would always suggest that you speak to your room mates first and make sure they don’t mind! If it becomes an issue then we may have to ask visitors to leave. *Pandemic Issue - During the pandemic, this has been suspended.

Can I see the tenancy agreement before I sign?

Yes, please feel free to download our tenancy agreement and take a look.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes, but only if you have a valid guarantor.

Can I choose my room?

As far as possible we will always try to accommodate any requests, so get in touch and we will discuss any individual requirements you may have, we will try and give you the room of your choice but this may not always be possible. Please Let us know if you have a particular requirement.  

What about post and parcels?

Post and parcels will be delivered to reception. Parcels are securely stored until they are collected, post will be available from the shared flat post boxes in the waiting area.

What about security?

The halls will be staffed 24/7 so there is always someone to talk to if you are concerned about security. Access to the building, the flats and the individual bedrooms is via an electronic locking system and you will be given a unique key fob when you move in. These fobs are fully programmable so we can instantly cancel should yours be lost or stolen. There is also CCTV around the building.

Are my possessions insured?

We provide a basic level of possession insurance cover, but there are limits/exclusions so if you are thinking of bringing valuable items then we would suggest contacting us first.

What are your thoughts on equality and diversity?

Actions that contradict our approach to this from staff, contractors, visitors and students alike will not be tolerated.
